TMNT!!!

So in the midst of putting the dishes away (yet again), cleaning the counters (which I do like 4 times every day), and vacuuming (because getting food into our mouths seems to be nearly impossible), I started to reminisce about my fav things from my childhood. Um does anyone remember Skip-Its? LOVED them. I could run around playing with my Skip-It forever. (Well, actually it was my neighbor's Skip-It, so I guess if I played with it forever then that would be stealing. And stealing is very very VERY bad kids! ;)) Then I thought about my 90's-tastic roller blades that were so freaking sweet. My sister  and I used to go to the Roswell Skating rink and just skate for hours dancing to cheesy DJ's and awesome 90's tunes. Ahhh, good times.

Then I started thinking about all the fun movies and tv shows that were the essence of my childhood.  Of course, we all played sports and played outside a ton, so don't badger me with messages about how we watched too much tv, MOM!

Anyway, I was absolutely addicted to Nickelodeon: Rugrats, Doug, Legends of the Hidden Temple, MYSTERY FILES OF SHELBY WOO (omg my fav), Wild and Crazy Kids, All That, Are you Afraid of the Dark, David the Gnome, What Would you do?, Double Dare, and so on. I mean, the list could go one forever...do you remember Hey Dude?! Uh-Mazing. I know you didnt miss an episode of Salute Your Shorts!!

Basically, Nickelodeon was awesome in the 90's, but then shows like The Wild Thornberrys came on, and I was like "PASS!" So that was the end of that era.

But what about the childhood movies? Um, Angels in the Outfield anyone???? Awesomeness. How about Rookie of the Year or The Big Green? D2: Mighty Ducks? Yeah I said it...the second one is wayyyyy better than the first one. Kid sports movies ruled my little 8 yr old existence. That scene at the end of Angels in the Outfield where everyone starts waving their arms like thousands of little angels...love. Tony Danza at his absolute best. Oh and Matthew McConaughey (how on earth do you spell his name?) being his dumbass, lovable self. How can you not love that? Oh memories.

Let's not forget Ferngully, Home Alone, and Disney 90's classics like Aladdin, Toy Story, and Hercules.

Nostalgia. It really is something special to think back on those worry-free summer days hanging out at the pool, making forts, eating Rice Krispy Treats cereal with childhood best friends (eh hem, Tanis Pound!), and just being awesomely tan and skinny.

I had an amazing childhood. I think it would be fun to relive some of those experiences by having some sort of  Kid Day where everyone plans a day filled with the activities they used to do when they were younger. Yep, I'm doing it...so I'm going to leave now to watch Angels in the Outfield (yes, I own it on DVD along with the other movies I mentioned above except for Rookie and D2...those are on my "Must Get" list).

Until next time folks,
B
