Groups of Friends

Do you have a friend that most of your other friends dislike? I do. And see, the thing is I totally understand why some of my friends don't like this person (I will call this person Person X). Person  X has done some pretty shitty things in the past, but even though I get irritated or pissed off about that stuff sometimes, I don't want to let it all ruin my view of someone. Am I being naive? Should I stop  making an effort to be someone's friend if he/she has hurt others in the past? I really don't think so.

Of course, there are people we cut out of our lives because of unforgivable acts, but those are probably people who were never meant to be in our lives for very long.

I want the best for my friends, and I know that my true friends want the best for me, which is why they don't like certain friends of mine who, they think, treat me badly. I get this. I really do. But I cant just stop being friends with someone whom I don't hate...does that make sense?

It's not like I'm afraid of anyone not liking me for cutting them out of my life (case in point: Shannan), but there are some friends who last a lifetime no matter what happens. And that is why I keep those friends around.

You never know what will happen in the future, and who knows which friends will still be in my life 5, 10, 20 years down the road. So if I am happy with the people in my life, no matter what the past may be, I don't think I should have to edit who I hang out with. But then again, how many times can you be burned by one person? What does it take for that straw to finally break the camel's back?

I hope I never have to find out...

Haven't Met You Yet...

So have I discussed my obsession with Michael Buble yet?! I don't think so!!! Most of the people who know me know that I love Michael Buble, so it's about time that I write about him in my blog.

First of all, it seems like every song he comes out with is a representation of my life. "Everything" is the sweetest song ever, and I want that to be my first dance at my wedding (if I have a wedding that is lol).

"And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything."

Ah...perfection :)

But right now in my life, my theme song is "Haven't Met You Yet." It is so fun and carefree and just full of hope. That's how I feel these days: strangely happy (even though not much is going on in my life lol) and completely filled with hope...hope that I will find the person who is perfect for me.

"I might have to wait, I'll never give up

I guess it's half timing, and the other half's luck

Wherever you are, whenever it's right

You'll come out of nowhere and into my life.... Havent met you yet"

His songs don't just remind me of love and romance though.
His two songs "Sway" and "Save the Last Dance for Me" (remakes of course), specifically, don't remind me of romantic love at all; they just remind me of the times when Sami and I would ride around in her car singing and dancing along to these songs. So for me, these songs remind me of my best friend. That's why I love them...because she makes them special :).

So needless to say, I want want want his Crazy/Love: Hollywood Edition cd. It has all of the songs on his original Crazy/Love album PLUS his new single "Hollywood," which is a-mazing yall! Gawd I love it!

So that's my quick little schpeal about MB. Just thought you'd like to know haha.

Crap.

Well...let's just put it this way: I will be using my first GRE scores. Basically, yesterday was awful. I got to the testing center like 20 minutes late, didnt have to time to tinkle, and had a major headache. So, needless to say, I could not focus, and we all know what happens when you can't focus...not good.

So after I got out of the test, I chilled with the family (mommy, both sisters, and my kitty).
These are a few pictures of my cat Boy.

He is so big! It's hard to see, but I tried to measure how big he is.

Here he is being held by my lil sis. So cute.

My mom and sisters go to trivia every Friday night, and this time, I got to go with them!
Our group had like 7 people, so we did super well. In fact, we won!!
We only missed two questions the entire time, and those were the ones worth the least amount of points. Yay us! At the end, I think our total was 99 points out of a possible 102 points, and I was solely responsible for 32 of the 99 points; that's pretty much 1/3 of our total score. See? I'm smart (stupid GRE grrr)! We collaborated on all of the answers, but one person was usually key in thinking of the right answer. I love trivia. I hope I will get to go with them more often.

After trivia, my sister and I came back to my apartment and played with my roommate's cat a little, then she went home. I was pooped!!! BUT...I stayed awake long enough to finish watching Murder She Wrote (one of my fav tv shows), so yay!! I hate when I start to watch it then fall asleep before I find out whodunit, like I did 2 nights ago ugh.
I love MSW. It is one of the best shows ever made. Ahhh I wish it was on all the time...

This is Tak. She gets underneath my desk, watches tv, stares at walls...weird kitty hahaha.

Love her!

Well that's it for now. Just wanted to update the blog for a sec.

So...What is going on with you?

I hate when you apply for jobs that say certain work experience is preferred but not necessary...but then your application is automatically ignored because you don't have that specific work experience. Grrrr. C'mon, how hard could it be to scan something or show someone how to find this or that? It shouldn't be that hard to me, so it shouldn't be that big of a deal if I don't have that experience. Ugh...I am so frustrated.

But whatever.

So I am taking the GRE for a second time tomorrow afternoon. I have studied more and have my experience from my first take that I think will help me. Now I know exactly what the test looks like and how long I can take on the questions...so no need to rush. It ended up only taking me an hour and a half to complete the GRE the first time, which is relatively quick, so I know now that I can take my time because I should have ample time to go through each question.
So my goal tomorrow is to think carefully about what I want to say in each essay in order to get a better score on the Writing portion and to focus better on the Verbal section. I would be so relieved even if I only did a tad better in both, but I won't be disappointed with my scores, no matter what, as long I try my best...last time, I got kinda bored at the end and just wanted it to be over, so I wasn't focused on doing well.

Blah blah blah...so that's basically it for me...oh wait, I forgot to mention that I am starting P90X back up again. Adam (the ex) and I are doing the muscle days together. It's so much easier to do it with someone else that to do it by myself because it gets pretty boring after a while. And as soon as I am done with the GRE (and worrying about it), I will get back into running, so that will be good. I want to lose another 25 lbs at some point, but for right now, I just want to lose enough weight to fit into the jeans I wore freshman year of college...I am only one size away. So close!

Ok now I am done.

But to anyone who will read this (and I only know like 2 or 3 people actually will but whatev lol), I want to know about your lives! So get a blog and then tell me about it...I always say "What if I had a reality show with my friends?" Well this is our chance-minus the cameras!
So tell me about your personal lives.
...I know I'm not the only one interested.

You know what really grinds my gears?!

I dont remember. Damn it! I lost my train of thought.

Oh wait, now I remember...PDA. I cannot stand PDA. I don't care where you are, it is never okay to to be all over one another if you are around other people. It's one thing to show affection by giving a small kiss or hug or hold hands, but it's another thing to grope and make out and just be inappropriate, in general, if the two of you are not alone. Not only is it super disrespectful to the people around you, but it's also super awkward. Where are your manners, people?! Stop showing off...because that is EXACTLY what you are doing! Seriously, please just take it into the other room, or car, or just anywhere away from civilization because it is super gross to see your tongue sloshing around in someone else's mouth...ewwwwwwwww. Gag me with a spoon.

Ok. I can hear what some of you are probably saying...Yes, I am single, and yes, I am probably uber sensitive to seeing couples acting all...well...couple-y. BUT, even when I was in a relationship with someone, I still did not like seeing PDA or even being a part of it. It makes everyone around you feel very uncomfortable...why would you want to make someone feel uncomfortable, hmm?

I know I am not the only one who feels this way. Plenty of people would agree with me. (There are like a million groups on Facebook about it after all).

And fyi, I'm not saying that I think the two of you aren't cute or anything, I just wish yall would quit trying to "prove" your cuteness to everyone else because, frankly, no one cares....

PDA is also annoying for other reasons besides being gross to the entire Walmart population who had to walk by the two of you going at it next to the toothbrush aisle. It is also pretty distracting...for the two of you. I have been in plenty situations where, for example, the "lovely couple" has slowed the rest of the group down because they didn't realize it was their turn to bowl the bowling ball or roll the dice or move up in the long-ass line for movie tickets. Gawd!!! Just freaking pay attention, puh-lease! I can't stand it! Just thinking about this topic gets me fired up.

Seriously people...please stop. I want hang out with you! But it is impossible to be around the two of you when your hands are wrapped around each other like some weird, two-person, straight jacket.

...Friend, I just wish you would stop kissing your bf, so we can finish the conversation about our fav tv shows that was disrupted when your bf sat down next to you and distracted you. How rude!

Ok rant over...

...and here come the Hate emails. Awesome.

Tidbits...

So not too much happened today. I got my prescription refilled, so that's good.

I studied for the GRE for a little bit, but I definitely need to do a lot more until the big day next Friday!

Moving on...

Soooo, I am getting pretty pumped about my birthday on the 21st. And yes, that does mean you (whoever you are) must get me a present!! Hahaha jk, but it doesn't hurt to put it out there right?!

Well anyway, I guess that's it for today's post. Like I said, not much happened today that's worth mentioning really. But I have included some pictures, which might add a little spice in this otherwise mundane blog. (Actually, these pictures are pretty banal as well, so...sorry lol).

These are just a few pictures of my necklace with the charms I was talking about. The picture quality sucks a little, but what do you expect from a camera phone, huh?

So there is ...an elephant (my fav animal...a "B" for Betsy (duh)...and a cute little compass (that came with the necklace originally).

Well that's it I suppose. Maybe something awesome will happen really really soon so I can talk about it on here! So on that note, I am going to end this with a plea to the universe to bring me something good in my near future!

<3

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Universe,

I know you're probably busy, you know, being the universe and all, but I could really appreciate something...ANYTHING...to happen in my life right now. But to be clear, that doesn't mean I want to happen across a dead body (although, to be honest, that would be uber neat) or for a plane to crash into me (like that would ever occur), but simply, I'm just hoping for some good news to come my way like a new job offer or finding the perfect little car or stumbling upon a huge wad of cash (no strings attached). I don't think I am asking too much, Universe, so please don't disappoint!

Best,
Betsy

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffins...AND...Halloween!!

Well, hello again readers!!! And by readers, I mean Morghen since no one else reads my blog haha. But that's ok...just means I dont have to worry about my "audience" getting mad at me...I think!

Anywho...So have I mentioned that I love baking? Well actually, it's more that I hate being bored, and when I get bored, I just start either cooking or baking to make the time go by faster.

When I bake, I usually only make things that have chocolate in them, but I have been known to make some pretty awesome pear/apple/cherry pies from scratch. I prefer to make my own crust because I get really proud when I can make a deliciously sweet and flaky crust without any help from anyone else. But I do understand the handiness of a store-bought pastry shell in a time pinch.  Those pies are so easy to make. Just buy some premade pie filling (your choice), cold pie  dough (next to the premade cookie dough with the butter), then just unroll the shell on a pie pan, add your filling with some butter, and bake. Simple right? Yes. But if you have time (and usually I do), you should def make your pie entirely from scratch. It's almost just as easy.

I really have no idea why I just talked about pie, but whatevs. Maybe someone was wondering how to make a simple homemade dessert and came across this post!

Anyway, I typically make chocolatey desserts like brownies or chocolate chip cookies or pastries with chocolate either on top or inside the dough. But I wanted to expand my chocolate repertoire, so I decided on a chocolate chocolate chip muffin. The first time I made the recipe, the muffins were ok. I liked them, but I knew they could be better. On the second attempt, I made some adjustments, so the muffins would be more chocolatey...and more delicious! Still, I knew I could improve. Finally, on the third try, I got it! Cooked perfectly with the right amount of chocolate, I achieved my goal of making a delicious batch of Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffins! Yay me.

These pictures are from my first batch of muffins, so you can see how the muffins rose in the oven and what they looked like as a finished product.
I hope to one day either work in a bakery or own my own bakery. So this is definitely a starting point.

OK. Let's move on.

Last month, my roommate Erin invited me to go with her and her sister to a crafts fair in Tennessee. They go there every year I think, so it was really sweet of them to let me tag along.
There were tons of homemade crafts and such and plenty of dogs walking around with their owners!
We had a ton of fun seeing what everyone came to sell, and we even got to pet some animals at a Petting Zoo! There were llamas, puppies, chickens, goats, geese, and miniature horses!
I got my picture taken while feeding the horses...which reminds me, I need to see if I can find the website that would have those pictures posted! The llamas didnt seem to like short people because they wouldnt let me and Erin pet them. Oh well. Some random guy brought an alpaca to the fair and walked around with it on a leash letting people pet it. Now that was awesome!
Here is a picture of Erin and me in between the two bigger thorough-fairs of..well...the fair haha.
I got some cute charms to add to my necklace, and I will post a picture of them soon.

That's pretty much it for the fair, so on to the next!

HALLOWEEN!

So as you know, I was Marilyn Monroe.
I only have a few pictures of my costume that my friends took (I dont have a camera).
This is Sami as a guidette (Jersey style)
I was trying to do the Marilyn look, but I dont think I was very good at it lol
Hahaha, I feel like I just look clueless.
This is me after I took off my costume and was about to head home. Beau was sweet enough to give me a ride. Thanks Beau!

Well, Sami's party was pretty kick ass. There were lots of different kinds of costumes. Most of the girls weren't slutty lame costumes, which was pretty refreshing. It's one thing to be feminine, but it's another thing to just wear skimpy clothing and call it a costume. One of my fav costumes was Gumby. It looked pretty awesome, not going to lie.

The next day I had work at 8:30 am until 2:40, so I was glad I got about an extra 2 hours in. Then I went to Stephen's house with Britney and Christina. We decorated his house up for all of the cute little trick or treaters, and it looked so good! I wish I took a picture.
There were a ton of good costumes, and most of the kids were pretty friendly, although a few of them could have used a few more manners. However, we did get some older kids, and I totally called them out on it. They said they were "ummm 12?" but they definitely looked at least 14 and didnt even bother to wear costumes. Idiot kids. I told them next time they need to where legit costumes. This one kid, who was probably 11 or 12, said he was Paul McCartney (he was dressed in dark jeans and a black hoodie)...he definitely just looked like an emo kid who just left school, so his "costume" was a bit of a stretch too.

Oh well, I had a lot of fun, but I got pretty tired pretty early. So I went home around 1am I think.

That's about it for my Halloween weekend. I thought it was pretty eventful, but then again, I'm usually bored all day, so doing anything outside my apt. is pretty eventful lol.

Here are a few more festive pictures from my apt though...cant wait for the next holiday and more festive decorations and pictures to come!
 Pumpkin decoration
 Another pumpkin decoration...
This is the scary, furry spider at Sami's house. It was huge!
Scarry pumpkin! Get it? Scarry...because it has scars...and it's scary...no? you're an idiot.
 Angry Asian pumpkin!
Two faced pumkin!!

Oh yeah, tonight I had dinner with my old roommate Ashley (hey Ash!)!!! I love her. We are going to have another play-date next week sometime, so I will definitely write about that when it happens!

Until next time folks!

Dear Douchebag,

You are one of the worst human beings I have ever known. You are an uneducated, yet extremely pompous prick, and it infuriates me that you act like you know everything when, clearly, you can't even write a sentence in which all of the words are spelled correctly. Did you know that your does not mean you're? Guess not since you seem to perpetually misuse the word your when you obviously should have used you're.

I can't stand you. You actually make my skin crawl, and I hate when I have to see you. You think you're witty and cute? Well hate to burst your bubble, but you aren't (or should I have used your vernacular and said "aint?").

You have an amazing girlfriend, yet you totally abuse her good heart. What is wrong with you? What makes you think you have the right to play emotional-roulette with her? You are an asshole, a selfish, close-minded, duplicitous asshole.  There is a reason none of her friends can stand you and why you, apparently, rub everyone the wrong way.

When you talk, I immediately want to pull my hair out and drop kick you (yay for Chuck Norris's cool moves). I don't care what you have to say, and I never did. So don't expect me to be all wide-eyed, you attention-seeking whore, when you want to tell a story because I obviously don't give a hoot.

There...I feel better.

Anyway, I can't wait to talk about my Halloween!!!

Until next time guys!
