Day 23. A Letter to Your Parents

Dear Mom and Dad,

Although we have never had the typical family dynamic, I wouldn't change a thing about my relationships with you. 

Mom, you're the core of everything I am and everything I will become. You helped me realize my dreams and were there to support me, even when I made some dumb decisions. I can always turn to you for help...I love you mommy.

Dad, it's so funny that I am who I am with the humor that I have, considering you have lived a few states away from me for most of my life, because I am literally a carbon copy of you without even trying. We make the same jokes, laugh at the same time...almost like twins. Some people may say it's "scary" or "weird," but I think it's neat. So even though we share the same blood, I think our relationship is hella unique...It's one of the reasons why I love you so much (that and you buy me steaks).

Well enough with the mushy stuff...

Day 22. Your Current Relationship

I have a lot of relationships...


the ones I share with my friends, mom, dad, sisters, and boyfriend, but I have a feeling the Challenge is referring to the relationship I have with my boyfriend.

As I have mentioned before, his name is Beau. When I describe him to people who don't know him, I say he is a "good ol' boy," meaning that he is southern and has all of the charm and know-it-all of a southern gentleman. But that's only one side of the good ol' boy. The other side is the dirty, outdoorsy, foulmouthed, works-with-his-hands guy that evens out the charming southern gentleman part, which is what makes Beau so great. I think he has a little bit of everything; He's not too soft, and he's not too rough...like the perfect bed from the Goldie Locks story, he is just right lol.

Well anyway, we laugh together, make jokes, be silly with one another...we just like being around each other.  That's what a relationship should be about.

We've all been in those bad relationships, so it's just refreshing when you find someone who just makes you happy.  Happiness goes a long way in a relationship...duh.

Don't get me wrong though. Beau and I aren't perfect. We fight, just like everyone else, and we fight hard. But at the same time, if we know we want to be together, sometimes it's just better to apologize and squash the issue instead of holding onto anger.

We love each other. That's that. Who knows what will happen in the future :).

Day 21. Your Fears

My fears...wow.


I definitely have a fear of running out of money and not being able to pay my bills.

I have a fear that I will never get married and have children (thanks Mom...).

I am afraid of being out in the deep sea and being swallowed up by huge waves.

I get scared driving sometimes.

I'm afraid my car will break down again.

I'm scared someone I love will die suddenly (mommy, dad, bffs, Beau, sisters).

But I am very afraid that I will never figure out exactly what I want to do as a career or, even if I do figure it out, achieve it.

There you go...my fears.

Day 20. A Hobby of Yours

Well, I love furniture...


specifically thrift store furniture because I love reinventing it.

I buy pieces of furniture all the time and repaint them, re-purpose them, decorate, whatever. It is so much fun!

The only problem is that I live in an apartment, so my space is limited...but that doesn't really stop me haha.

I'm hoping to find a cool desk or old door next to add to my repertoire.

But for now, I'm thinking about sanding down my current bedroom furniture and painting it dark brown (my fav!!!).  They pieces are sturdy, but they have the 1988 look that I don't like. After all, that furniture is what I grew up with in my bedroom lol.

So if I have any projects soon, I will be sure to post something about them!

Day 19. A Fun Memory

A fun memory?


wtf.

Well let me think...

gawd I am terrible at this. I can't think of anything! Not that I don't have fun memories, but it's hard to think of them now that I have to. Kind of like when you know Ryan Reynolds is the star of "Definitely, Maybe," but then someone asks you, "Who is the guy from 'Definitely, Maybe'?" And all of a sudden, you just can't remember his name for the life of you...well that's what is happening to me right now.

But, I will try to think of something anyway.

hmmm.

Basically any time Morghen, Sami, and I are together, we laugh hysterically, so I am trying to think of something specific that we laugh at. Watching movies with them is always fun. Splice, The Orphan, She's the Man, Get Him to the Greek...we just can't stop laughing. So, I guess a fun memory would just be whenever the three of us are together...I miss it.

Day 18. What You Like Best About Each Member of Your Family

Mommy- She is the one person I can always talk to, no matter what the subject.

Chrissy-She is one resilient little lady. I look up to her so much because of how hard she worked to get where she is at.

Jenny-She is super duper good at the one thing she loves. She knows what she wants to do. Period. THAT's something to be proud of...I'm jealous. I feel like I'm changing my mind every ten minutes.

Dad-He is soooooo funny. I've always had a quirky sense of humor (I love that about me), and I get it from him. He always makes me laugh...I miss him :(.

Of course, each person has other attributes that I loves, but this challenge asked for what I like BEST. So this just about sums it up.

Day 17. A Photo of Your Family

crap. I dont have any of those...but I have pictures of each person in my family, separately. So here we go!

Whoops!

Perhaps...I made a mistake.

So I bought this nifty mirror/cabinet thing from a thrift store recently with the intention of painting it some sort of dark brown color (you know, my fav), and well, to start the process (because I don't have the paint right now), I decided to spray paint the knobs a silvery brass color...in my room...with the windows closed.

Needless to say, there is a pretty strong scent coming from my room lol. Luckily, I have a ceiling fan now, so I'm hoping that will help dissipate the chemical smell. So far, not so good haha.

But on a good note, the knobs look pretty neat. I might decide to make them darker depending on which color I decide on for the cabinet itself!

Oh and I forgot my phone at work today, otherwise I would take a picture and post it here for you to see what exactly I am talking about.

Today

Time for a very personal post...

So Beau and I have been dating for six months now, and it's been amazing. For the past like 4 1/2 months, we haven't gone one day without seeing each other...but all of that has changed because *gasp* he will be out of town until Thursday. Sadness. But he is seeing family, so it's really important that he is going and getting to spend some quality time with them.

But it will be hard for me to not see him for a while...

I know...how lame of you, Betsy! He will only be gone for 4 days...get over it. And the Betsy from over 6 months ago would agree with you, but I've never had a relationship like this before. This is the first time that I've felt like a grown-up in a relationship and not just a silly girl with a casual boyfriend. We both genuinely care about each other, equally I might add, and it's just plain ol' cute. If the old me saw the two of us on the side of the street, she would prob make fun of how mushy we are...but I don't care!

But anyway, he will be gone, and I will miss him. So in the meantime, I have another furniture project that I'm excited about...I love thrift stores!!!!!!!!! You find the coolest pieces of furniture, and it's cheap!

I also have to deal with this car issue...I feel helpless, but my family (and Beau's actually) has been really helpful with everything. So I'm hoping to get things resolved soon.

But I'm going to say a little prayer just in case..it can't hurt can it?!

Day 16. A Favorite Food

Steak.

Hmmmmm.

Day 13. Something You Want to Buy

I would like to buy a new car!!!
My current car is on the fritz :(

The fuel pump is out or something...

The radio doesnt work...like the speakers don't turn on...the radio doesnt turn on...idk

The AC doesnt work...

It's old...

I obviously made a mistake when buying it, but I can't take it back now. I have to deal with it.

I just needed a car at the time, so I could find a job, which I did. But now I don't get paid enough to afford to fix all of the problems let alone get a new car... and I still need a car to get to work.

I just feel stuck, like, in no-man's land.

But I'm thankful for what I do have (my family, friends, place to live, a job, my life), so it's not all bad.

I'm just down about the whole situation I guess...

Day 12. Something You Bought Recently

hmmmmmm...

I bought a mirror cabinet thing from the thrift store. It's so awesome.

There are three panels of mirror on the front, and each one opens independently of the other to reveal a cabinet space...kind of like a medicine cabinet.

I would take a picture, but it's at my mom's house because it's hella heavy and wouldn't fit inside Beau's truck (I couldn't put it in the bed of the truck because it was going to storm...grrr).

I bought a sandwich yesterday. And it was delicious.

Besty is obviously just a reworking of my name. Boo Boo is from Yogi Bear (Boo Boo was his short best friend). Poppie is Morghen's nickname for me, and I call her Poopie. Babineaux is what Beau calls me. The name comes from Johnathan Babineaux who plays for the Falcons, and since it kinda sounds like Babe, that's what Beau calls me. And Big B is just a nickname I got in high school because all my friends knew who was boss, and it was pretty funny since I'm so little.

Day 9. Pet Peeves

Ok so the reason I stopped posting is because "Pet Peeves" was the next thing on the challenge...

ughhhhhh

I have a lot, and I just don't feel like listing them or trying to remember all of them...

but it's part of the challenge...so I have to do that.

Day 8. Cravings

I crave steak a lot...mmmmmmm steak. I'm actually making steak and chicken kabobs for Beau and I tonight. They are pretty amazing, not going to lie.

Milk.

I crave chicken fingers a lot too...and spicy things. My coworkers know just how much I love hot sauce and milk.

SO basically I like spicy meat and milk. That's my life haha.

Oh and chocolate...like a delicious homemade chocolate chip cookie. mmmmmm yum. Nothing beats that.

Hmmmmmm this is tough...I love Ingrid Michaelson, Michael Buble, Dierks Bentley, Queen, and some others. But fav song? That's hard to pin down.

"Home" by Michael Buble is definitely up there as an all-time fav

"Fat Bottom Girls" by Queen is another goodie

I also love a ton of country, so there's that too.

But the thing about songs for me that doesn't really happen with anything else is that songs get old, so I don't have the exact same favorites for very long because I get tired of them eventually.

Day 7. The Meaning Behind Your Blog Name

Well my favorite childhood dog was a Pekingese names Bandit. He was my dog...my very special dog. I used to read Where The Red Fern Grows all the time while holding him because I felt the same connection to my dog as the little boy from the story did with his dogs...Boy did I cry when he died.

He was the sweetest little thing...and soooo funny. I miss him.

"The Life and Times of Bandit" also reminds me of traveling, which I used to do a lot. It's really fun to explore different places and learn the different cultures. 

So that's why I chose that title.
